As with much of the healthcare industry, Behavioral Health and Chemical Dependency treatment facilities and providers face ongoing challenges in the areas of reimbursement, quality care delivery and medical/legal risks. At times, gaps in care may occur or, more often, the documentation of the care delivered is lacking. Quality Assurance efforts often lag far behind care delivery such that discovery of a gap may be well after a patient is discharged and the opportunity to address the gap has gone.
Dr. Sam Toney, President and CEO of Toney HealthCare joins us to discuss how behavioral health providers can secure appropriate reimbursement, mitigate denials and assure quality with an easy to follow 4-step approach to clinical documentation improvement.
- Learn about a medical necessity documentation model that secures appropriate reimbursement, mitigates denials and assures quality of care delivery in behavioral health by taking a payer perspective.
- Understand why certain behavioral health medical necessity documentation practices do not yield appropriate reimbursement or lead to claims denials.
- See the impact of improved documentation practices in real world examples.
