The healthcare industry is always looking for new and innovative ways to improve patient care. This includes implementing health IT such as EMR systems, mobile devices and cloud technology. Along with these technological innovations, telehealth has made a strong impact on the healthcare field, especially in regards to treating patients on a long-term care basis. A long-term care consultant with expertise in health IT could provide the proper guidance in adopting telehealth services.

On April 30, American Well Systems, a leading telehealth company, announced the release of its Online Care Suit 6.0, a system supporting telehealth services. The structure of this system allows for various health-related organizations like pharmacies and delivery networks to communicate with each other through online messaging at any point in time regardless of where one is situated.

"With Online Care 6.0, we have taken telehealth to the next level by offering a new experience as simple and easy to use as the best eCommerce sites," Roy Schoenberg, CEO of American Well Systems, said in a press release. "Telehealth is no longer a silo within the healthcare system - it is an established channel for making that system reach and connect consumers and providers, wherever they may be."

The biggest benefit from this telehealth system is the enhanced access to higher quality care at a lower price for the healthcare community. Also, telehealth services enable medical professionals to coordinate care more efficiently to achieve superior results for chronic patients. Online Care 6.0 was also observed to better engage patients and medical workers whether they were at home, at work or traveling.

Medical providers looking to utilize telehealth systems should speak to a hospital consultant providing healthcare IT consulting services.
