14119115.jpgThe Department of Health and Human Services just picked a new CIO.  Beth Killoran, who has eleven years of experience at the Department of Homeland Security, will take on the role this month.

According to an official blog from the HHS, Killoran already has a number of objectives ahead of her. These include a cybersecurity initiative, phishing policing program, and a special Workforce Development Pilot Project.

For the last of these three projects, Killoran will help set goals for the future health IT workforce. The effort should affect HHS staff directly.
