The HHS is working toward better interoperability metrics with an announcement. According to a new document from the source, the Department is prepared to adopt two new measures as it assesses information exchanges in the future. With these enacted, HHS can prepare for in-depth analysis before it submits a report on December 31, 2018.
One of these new measures looks at the providers sending, receiving, searching or integrating outside data. The other concerns providers reporting clinical decision-making information from outside electronic sources. The measures come from around one hundred comments the HHS received.
These comments also helped the HHS determine common topics it has to address, including the need for broad scopes and a low reporting burden.
